Senior Companion Program

Who We Are

Senior Companions help individuals remain independent by helping out and doing what friends do for others.  As part of an overall healthcare plan, Senior Companions assist visually and physically impaired with reading and writing correspondence and provide respite care for family members with home-bound loved ones.  Senior Companions assist with monthly bill paying and record keeping, chores, walking/exercising, and limited escort travel to local medical appointments and essential errands.  Senior Companions receive on-going training to help their clients avail themselves of other community services.

What We Do

The Senior Companion Program (SPC) provides volunteer opportunities for healthy adults 55 years or older with the means to serve their community.  It is our purpose to utilize these vital and knowledgeable volunteers to share their caring and skills for those adults 18 years or older who have special needs without regard to income level.  Volunteers receive compensation to offset out-of-pocket expenses such as transportation.  Volunteer assistance provided will encourage an individual’s self-reliance, self-worth, and help maintain their independence.
